Obituary

Bette J. Aia age 87, passed on February 26, 2021 after a battle with dementia and finally heart issues. Born 11/11/33 in East Boston, Massachusetts to Edith and Joseph Silva. Married to Michael Aia on December 10, 1954 for 66 years, whom she had known since the second grade.
Bette was a dedicated caregiver and hard worker from youth right until her late life illnesses, first for her siblings and mother, then her husband, son and grandchildren. Had many jobs, of particular enjoyment as a professional hairdresser for Revlon in Manhattan while living in Bayside Queens, NY. Somehow she found time for artistic expressions painting, knitting, sewing, gardening and the culinary arts.. always adding that extra touch to make it special. A strong bubbly personality with a great sense of humor and compassion, It's been said that anyone who met her would never forget.


Additionally, she was involved with many social clubs and organizations wherever she lived. Served at her last residence in Stormville, NY on the East Fishkill Rescue Squad and Ladies Auxiliary for about ten years during the 60's and 70's.


She loved literature and pondered on a favorite poem by Oliver Wendell Holmes:


And if I should be

The last leaf to live upon the tree

In the spring

Let them smile as I do now

At the old forsaken bough

Where I cling


Bette is survived by her loving family members; husband Michael Aia, son Steven Aia and companion Christine Castelli, granddaughter Nicole Golden and husband Sam Golden, granddaughter Corinne Paine and husband Tyler Paine, sister Claire Sousa and husband Robert Sousa, brother Malcom Silva and companion Cathlene Jones, brother George Silva and wife Mary Silva , brother in law John Banks, sister in law Janet Silva, and many nieces, nephews. relatives, neighbors and friends.

Predeceased and dearly missed are her mother Edith Silva, father Joseph Silva, sister Lorraine and husband Leo Barry, sister Joan and husband George Bishop, sister Carole Banks and brother John Silva. and sister in law Carol Silva Sadly we recently lost Bette's nephew Kenneth Banks suddenly.
