Betty Morris, an area resident for all her life, died on January 30, 2021, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 93.

Betty was born in Poughkeepsie on June 10, 1927, to the late Charles and Lena (Hartung) Hief. In 1956, Betty married Howard (Mike) Morris, he predeceased Betty in 1997.

Betty was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. She found joy working for more than 26 years at Fishkill Plains Elementary School where she lovingly served children lunch until her retirement in 2004. She loved all the children that came through her line each day. Betty was an avid bowler in her younger years, loved playing bingo, and traveling to casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Betty loved the company of Cocker Spaniels, she had them most of her adult life. A faithful fan of the Mets, they could be down 20 runs and she still had to watch until the very end.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Janice Haynes and her husband, David; her daughter-in-law, Ann Plass; her grandchildren, David King Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, Shannon Kisch, Kathy White and her partner, Jim Fielder, Robert White and his wife, Maria, Michelle Jackson and her husband, Melvin, and David Haynes and his wife, Meghan; her great grandchildren, Camden, Patrick, Mark, Kira, Sean, Kiera, TJ, Oliver, LuLu, and Angelo; and many loving family members and friends. Betty was predeceased by her son, Raymond Plass, and her brother, Charles Hief.
