Obituary for Betty Anne Read

Betty Anne Read, 75, of LaGrangeville, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born in New York City on January 28, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Robert Schaller and Elizabeth Graves Schaller. She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in Poughkeepsie in 1970. Betty Anne was employed as a Nurse at Castle Point VA Medical Center until she retired.

Betty Anne was a parishioner of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church in LaGrangeville. She enjoyed sewing and made many wedding dresses. She also enjoyed fishing especially trout fishing.

Betty Anne married Deo W. Read Jr. on May 22, 1971 at The Church of St. Denis in Hopewell Junction. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Deo W. Read Jr., and she is survived by her brothers, Bruce Schaller of Verbank and Brian Schaller of LaGrangeville, by her children and their spouses, Deo and Ann Marie Read of Milan, NY, Robert and Nicole Read of Canby, OR, and Dara and Reinaldo Pizarro of Hyde Park, NY, and her ten grandchildren, Deo, Charlotte, Kieran, Brodie, Finnbar, Allison, Adaline, R.J., Andre and Gabriel.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 17th, from 4-8pm at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 18th, at 10am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville, followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
