Obituary

Blanche V. Swinton, 95, of Hopewell Junction and formerly of Mahopac, died on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at her home.

Blanche was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and a member of the East Fishkill Seniors. She enjoyed baking, cooking, knitting and crocheting. She worked for Reader's Digest in Pleasantville for over 25 years as a night supervisor.

Born in New York City on November 2, 1919, she was the daughter of John and Caroline Kostrobala. On November 15, 1947 at St. Stanilaus Church in New York City, she married the love of her life, Walter Swinton who predeceased her on August 4, 1983.

She is survived by her son, Alexander Swinton of Hopewell Junction; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
