Brenda Marie Yackeren, a lifelong local resident, passed away, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 59.

Born in Beacon on April 7, 1966, Brenda graduated from John Jay Senior High School and Dutchess Community College. She began her career as a paralegal and office secretary before transitioning to healthcare, where she concluded her professional journey as a hospital specialist at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

On October 8, 1988, she married Donald C. Yackeren at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. He survives her at their home in Hopewell Junction.

In addition to her husband, Brenda is survived by her daughter, Ashley Murphy and her husband, Michael Murphy, of Burnt Hills; her daughter, Caitlyn Yackeren and her partner, Adam Montesinos; her son, Eric Yackeren; her beloved granddaughters, Madison, Mara, Mackenna, and Gabriella; her mother, Linda Lawson; and many cherished relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her father, George Lawson, in 2010 and her grandparents, John J. Lawson, Sr. and Elizabeth Lawson in 2002.

Brenda will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend whose steadfast love and strength were the foundation of her family. Her warmth, loyalty, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will remain her lasting legacy.

Calling hours will be held from 2:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday, February 22 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30am on Tuesday, February 24 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.
