Brian Thomas Luhrs, 32, a lifelong resident of Hopewell Junction, died on August 25, 2023 from injuries sustained in a tragic work accident.
Born in Poughkeepsie on July 20, 1991, he was the son of Bonnie Jackson Luhrs and the late Joachim Luhrs. He graduated from Columbia Greene College, and attended Hennessy Performance Tuning School in TX. Brian was a jack of all trades, working in many fields including construction and elevator repairs.
Brian grew up with his family as members of the Hopewell Reformed Church. His cousins were his family and they all had different nicknames. He was always known as "Poptart", but as one of 'Dem Boys, he recently adopted the name "Trail Boss."
Brian was always on an adventure. He looked forward to time spent fishing in his "honey holes", golfing and riding motorcycles. He considered himself a master mechanic of everything! He loved kids, and will always be remembered for telling his knock knock jokes to his niece and nephews.
Brian always said that he was here for a good time, not for a long time!!!!
Brian is survived by his mother, Bonnie Luhrs; his partner, Leila Bernardino; his brothers, Steven Luhrs and his wife Jennifer, and Mitchell Luhrs and his partner, Katelyn Croniser; his niece and nephews, Annalise, Mason and Jase; his grandfather, Gunther Luhrs; his aunts and uncles, Debbie and Domenico Porco, Ricky and Tracy Jackson, David and Kiesha Jackson, Barbara and Brian Lenz, Christine and Shane Gill; his cousins, Chad Perez, Dylan Jackson, his wife Stephanie and their kids Oliver, Grayson and Riley Anne, Logan Jackson and his son Jayce, Ryan Jackson and his wife Parker and their children Charlotte Anne and Olivia, Shannan Jackson, her partner Chris Scanlon and their daughter Rowan Anne, Karissa Perez, Victoria Anne Lenz, Tyler Lenz, Amanda Porco, her wife Melissa, and their children, Jackson, Reece, Raelynn and McKenna, Sarah Maley, her husband Josh and their daughters Amelia and Lily Anne, Christina Clermont, her husband Eric and their son Luca, and Corey Gill, his wife Alison and their son Beau. He was predeceased by his father, Joachim Luhrs; his grandparents, Leslie and Anne Jackson, and Helga Luhrs; his uncle, Michael Luhrs; and his aunt, Kathy Perez.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a service at 7:30pm.
