Obituary

Bridget Enimielen Kadiri , a resident of Wappingers Falls, NY for nearly 40 years, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY after a short battle with cancer. She was 64 years old.

Bridget is daughter of the late Michael and Alice (Okoene) Kadiri, and she was born in Irrua, Nigeria on January 1, 1962.

In 1987, she emigrated to the United States for her undergraduate studies. She earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from SUNY New Paltz. She worked as an accountant for many years for companies such as Decision Technologies and Gap Inc.

Bridget will be remembered for her welcoming spirit of compassion and generosity. As an aunt, she took a proactive role in helping raise her nieces & nephews. She was particularly close with her nephew Justin Ewanlen who was diagnosed with autism at the age of 3 and has limited communication capacity. Along with his mother, Bridget served as his primary support system and caretaker for nearly 36 years.

As a sister she was as devoted as they come, taking time each day to talk with her younger sister Margaret by phone in London and being a daily companion to her older sister Florence. Even in retirement, whenever anyone in her family needed financial help, she would pull from her savings and send support without hesitation. This spirit even extended to new members of the family who felt Bridget's joyful embrace first as they prepared to marry her nieces and nephews.

Bridget was always interested in current news and politics and could often be found online doing research to share with her sister, Florence. She never missed a mani pedi, could rarely be found without at least 2-inch wedge heels on, and always had her hair done. Bridget ran track in high school and lived a healthy lifestyle as a pescatarian who hated sweets, and limited her alcohol consumption to wine. While her taste in food was diverse, she loved seafood more than anything.

She is survived by her sister, Florence Matthews (Dr. Idoni Matthews) of Wappingers Falls; her sister, Rachel Oseghale (the Late Chief Oseghale) of Lagos, Nigeria; her sister, Margaret Kadiri of London, UK; her sister, Omonefe Kadiri of Lagos, Nigeria; her sister Iloebemeze Goma (Appolo Goma) of Lagos, Nigeria; her brother, Ehis Kadiri (Isioma Kadiri) of Abuja, Nigeria; her brother, Aikhonmu Kadiri (Beke Kadiri) of Abuja, Nigeria; her brother, Evans Kadiri (Usiomo Kadiri) of Lagos, Nigeria; her nieces & nephews she lived with and raised from birth, whom she considered her children: Tiana E. Koppel (Nathaniel Koppel) of New York City, Jessica O. Matthews (Christopher Stewart) of New York City, Justin E. Matthews of Wappingers Falls, Julian O. Matthews of Lowell, Massachusetts, as well as a host of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, grand nieces, and grand nephews around the world.
