Bruce C. Barton, 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully January 01, 2024.

On November 12th, 1961 in Hudson, NY, he married his high school sweetheart, Rose Barton (Gambino). They shared 62 wonderful years together.

Bruce received a degree in pomology from Cornell University in 1964. His passion for fruit farming and dreams of owning an apple orchard came to fruition when he acquired Lime Ridge Farms in 1979 and grew the family business into what is now Barton Orchards, located in Dutchess County NY.

Bruce is survived by his wife Rose, daughter Priscilla Halbert and her husband David of Lagrangeville, son Peter Barton and his love Jennifer Cunningham of Poughquag, grandchildren Heather Halbert and her fiancé Sean McIntyre of Poughkeepsie, Zachary Barton of Poughquag; sister and brother-in-law Bette and Charles Hotaling of Elizaville.

His family would like to thank Hudson Valley Hospice for the tremendous caring and support they provided.

A celebration of Bruce's life will be held this coming spring at the orchard.
