Obituary

Bruce Paul Ferrier, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on November 20, 2024,at home surrounded by his family .

Born on March 6, 1943, in Yonkers, NY, to Margaret (Boyer) and Lawrence Ferrier, he grew up in a lively household with his siblings Robert, Lawrence, Kenneth, Joan and Wayne. From a young age, he learned the value of hard work, often helping his father around the house, learning the skills that would serve him throughout his life.

Shortly after high school, he began his career as a plumber with Local 21, which he was a proud member of for over 60 years. He was the kind of man that could fix anything and somehow knew a little bit about whatever you brought up. If you needed advice, he'd give it to you straight-whether you wanted to hear it or not.

A lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers, his loyalty never wavered, although you might hear his grumbles the day after a bad game. He was a man of simple pleasures: an ice-cold beer, a bacon cheeseburger and a sunny afternoon in his favorite lawn chair were enough to make him happy. In his free time, he could often be found outside mowing the lawn or inside in his favorite recliner watching Gunsmoke or listening to some Bruce Springsteen.

He is predeceased by his brothers Robert and Wayne Ferrier and survived by his wife, Wendy; his daughters Sandi (Seth Pierson) and Sara (Timothy Gioia); his sons Bruce, Jason and James; and his grandchildren, Makayla, Matthew, Timothy Jr., and Braydon; his sister, Joan Stoltz, and his brothers, Lawrence and Kenneth Ferrier; and a host a nieces and nephews.

To honor his life, the family asks that you take a moment to appreciate the simple things in life. Get riled up about a football game on Sunday, enjoy your favorite snacks, and raise a beer to a man who was truly one of a kind!

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Unit 3 East at Putnam Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care and kindness and for treating Bruce like family in his final years.

At Bruce's request, there will be no formal service. If you'd like to honor his memory, donations can be made to Hudson Valley Hospice whose compassionate care brought him dignity and comfort in his final days.
