BEACON – Camilo “Freddie” Gonzalez, Sr. a Beacon resident since 2003, formerly of the Bronx, died on Friday, August 21, 2020 at home. He was 79.
Son of the late Dolores and Ruperta (Santiago) Gonzalez, he was born in Las Marias, Puerto Rico, on July 18, 1941. He worked as a Bookkeeper for Electrical Products Industries in Flushing, NY until his retirement.
Camilo was a member of the Local 3 Int’l Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He loved listening to Spanish oldies, watching old westerns, Spanish novelas and was an avid Mets Fan. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
On October 1, 1960, he married the love of his life, Emma R. Fornes, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in New York, NY. She survives at home.
Survivors include his children: Evelyn Pietri (Jose) of Fallon, NV, Emma Enid Gonzalez of Beacon, Camilo (Melba) Gonzalez of Wappingers Falls, and Carlos (Jeannina) Gonzalez of Coram, NY; his grandchildren: Francisco Daniel Martinez, Christopher Gonzalez, Alicia Gonzalez, Steven (Jennell) Diaz, David Gonzalez, Bianca Mercado, Kristina Gonzalez, Sofia Gonzalez and Sara Gonzalez; his great-grandchildren: Julian Martinez, Gabriel & Grayson Martinez, Ellie Lee Diaz and his oldest sister, Lydia Gonzalez; as well as many loving nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. He will be truly missed.
In addition to his parents, Camilo was predeceased by his brothers: Noel Gonzalez, Lorenzo Gonzalez, and Demetrio Gonzalez and his sisters: Leonor Gonzalez, Jenny Castro, and Dalila Gonzalez.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2020 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, Jackson Street, Fishkill followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
