Carlos Rafael Wilson, a resident of Beacon, NY since 1992, formerly of Tarrytown and the Bronx, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, NY. He was 84.
Son of the late Carlos Teofilo Wilson and Elsa Harrigan, he was born in Quisqueya, a province of San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic on July 30, 1939.
Carlos enjoyed all aspects of life, whether it was listening to music or his love for baseball and running. His big smile and infectious laugh lit up every room. He loved spending quality time with his family. He was a masterful storyteller who entertained all of his friends and family with tales of youth, expected and unexpected adventures, and all of life's lessons along the way.
An employee of Collins Building Services, he worked at Pace University in White Plains, NY. Upon his retirement in 2020, the college recognized and awarded Carlos for his 35 years of dedicated service. He previously worked as an assembly line welder for over 20 years at General Motors in North Tarrytown, NY.
On December 12, 1972, he married Luz Vanessa Florez in the Bronx. After 51 years of marriage, he is survived by his wife, Luz who continues to reside in Beacon.
Additional survivors include his daughter, Tania Wilson of Beacon, NY; his daughter, Yesenia Wilson Mitchell of Kearny, NJ; his daughter, Larksmy Wilson of Wappinger Falls, NY; and his son, Carlos Wilson of Oakland, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jamiere, Roberto and Jasiyah and other loving relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 26 at Salem Tabernacle, 7 Delavan Avenue, Beacon, NY. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.
