Carlotta Heitmann, fondly known as Cookie, 79, lifelong resident of Hopewell Junction, NY passed away on December 24, 2021 while taking a nap a few hours before Christmas Eve dinner. Cookie was born April 19, 1942, an Aries, with Taurus rising.

Cookie was a loving, caring wife, mother, and grandmother who lived approximately half a century in the home her grandfather built. Cookie, open and friendly, asked to know the birthday of everyone she met. She never forgot a birth sign and enjoyed sharing her passion for astrology with family, friends, and acquaintances. Cookie was all about family and kept up with the happenings of her sons, their spouses, and grandchildren on a regular basis. She was born in New York City to the late Frank and Ruth Sartori and moved to East Fishkill in the third grade. There she attended a one-room schoolhouse on Shenandoah Road, down the hill from her home. She graduated from Wappingers High School in 1960 and worked at Metropolitan Life as a secretary until her first child was born. For many years she worked in real estate. Cookie enjoyed numerous family trips to Europe and many joyous summers at Loon Lake.

She married Uwe Heitmann in 1961 and this past September they celebrated their 60th anniversary. Cookie is survived by her husband, Uwe, her brother, Louis Sartori of Hopewell Junction, her three sons and their wives, Roland and Jeanne-Marie of Garrison, Eric and Kiersten of Naples, Greg and Krysta of East Fishkill, and her seven grandchildren, Anna, Brandon, Tyler, Coco, Colton, Hudson, and Sailor.

There will be a wake Tuesday evening from 4-7pm at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., and a graveside service at 11am Wednesday morning at The Rural Cemetery behind the Bethel Baptist Church of Shenandoah, East Fishkill.
