LAGRANGEVILLE - Carmela Rigaglia, 86, an area resident for three years and longtime resident of Yonkers, died on March 22, 2022.

Born on December 24, 1935 in Solicchiata, Sicily, she was the daughter of Carmelo and Angela (Filipello) Rigaglia. Carmela had been employed as a seamstress for many years. She was a parishioner of Mount Carmel Church in Yonkers. Carmela adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook for her family and make sure to keep up with her traditions and passing them to her grandchildren, her easter cookies, her jarred tomato sauce and many more.

Carmela married the love of her life, Filippo Rigaglia, whom she is survived by. On January 3, 1959 in Sicily, Italy. They remained happily married for 63 years. She is also survived by her children, Josephine Congionti and her husband Gaetano, Salvatore Rigaglia and his wife Aida, and Carmelo Rigaglia; her grandchildren and their spouses, Evandro and Erica Congionti, Filippo and Adrianna Rigaglia, Melina Congionti and her fiancé Mark Appler, Melanie and Matt Pagano, Elisa Rigaglia, Carmela Rigaglia and her fiancé Michael Benvenuti, Marcello Congionti, and Filippo Rigaglia; her great-grandchildren, Dominic, Nicholas, Christian, Valentina and Salvatore; her sister, Margarita Savoca; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 11am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment in the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
