Carmen Grace Godoy, a resident of Campbell Hall, NY and formerly of Brooklyn and Staten Island, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026 at the age of 93. She was surrounded by family. Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 24, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Praxedes (Valentine) Lopez. On November 14, 1953, she married her beloved husband William Godoy. They spent many happy years together until his death in 1987.
Carmen loved the simple things in life that brought her happiness. She loved listening to music, dancing, reading books, needlepoint, taking walks, coloring, doing word searches and puzzles, and playing bingo. She enjoyed spending her afternoons watching her favorite soap operas and ending her nights with a good book.
Above all, Carmen had so much love for her family. She cherished being surrounded by the people she loved and was always making sure everyone was okay. She had a special way of showing her love through her daily phone calls, her concern for others, and her desire to keep everyone close. Those calls, her beautiful smile, and the comfort of knowing she was always there will be deeply missed.
Carmen meant the world to her family. She was a strong, independent, loving, giving, and compassionate woman who lived life in her own way. She could be strong-willed, and she certainly liked things her way, but that was part of what made her Carmen. She had a spirit all her own, a heart full of love, and a smile that could brighten a room.
Her presence leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully express, but the memories she created, the love she gave, and the special place she holds in each of our hearts will live on forever.
Carmen, you were loved more than words can say, and you will be missed more than words can express. You will forever remain a part of us, and your beautiful smile will never be forgotten.
Carmen is survived by her grandchildren Jonathan and Steven Godoy; her daughter-in-law Gioiella Godoy; her niece Debbie Cuccia; her great-nieces: Cynthia Montagnino and her husband John, Kimberly Meyer and her husband Todd, and Ashley Acera and her husband Fernando; her great-nephews: Derrick W. Cuccia and his wife Jamie, Mark Grossjung, and Eric Grossjung and his wife Jackie; as well as many other great-nieces and nephews. Carmen is also survived by a son, Billy Godoy and his family.
In addition to her husband, Carmen was pre-deceased by her son Steven Godoy; her sister Elsie P. Grossjung; and her brother Junior Lopez.
