POUGHKEEPSIE – Carmen Elisa Saquicela, 91, died peacefully at home on March 21, 2022.
Born in Ecuador on August 2, 1930, Carmen was the daughter of the late Juan and Olimpia (Paca) Samaniego. Carmen's husband, Julio Saquicela, predeceased her 35 years ago.
Carmen was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. She enjoyed reading the Bible and singing church hymns, especially her favorites, Psalm 23 and Psalm 91.
She is survived by her children, Haydee Figueroa, Julia Saquicela, Zoila Saquicela, Julio Saquicela, Rose Monserrate, and Carlos Saquicela; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Aida, Cesar, Rosa Cervini, and Ricardo; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Carmen was also predeceased by her children, Jorge Saquicela and Luis Saquicela; and her siblings, Alejandro Samaniego, Mariana Samaniego, and Clara Samaniego.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6-10pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 6 pm at the Harvest Church, 2368 Route 9D, Wappingers Falls, NY.

Carmen era una cristiana devota que amaba al Señor. Le gustaba leer la Biblia y cantar himnos de la iglesia, especialmente sus favoritos, el Salmo 23 y el Salmo 91.
