Obituary

HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Carol Anne Call, 68, of Hopewell Junction, passed away at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on Sunday, September 30, 2012 after a short illness.

She was born on May 10, 1944 in the Bronx. Carol was the daughter of the late Edward and Alice Heck.

On June 20, 1964, she married her husband and soul mate, John Call, at St. Margaret Mary Church in the Bronx. Carol graduated from St. Puis High School in the Bronx and worked at New York Telephone Company.

She loved traveling, cooking, her backyard birds and animals, but mostly her children and grandchildren. Her travels included Alaska, the Panama Canal, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Ireland. She was an excellent cook and enrolled in classes at the CIA in Hyde Park. She was a parishioner at St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction.
On their 25th wedding anniversary, she and her husband renewed their vows in Hawaii at the foot of Diamond Head in a Hawaiian ceremony. Subsequent anniversaries were marked by renewed vows in Las Vegas by “Elvis” and the captain of the cruise ship, Caribbean Princess.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John Call; her son, John Christopher Call and his wife Diane and their daughter, Ashley; her son, James Call and his wife Julie and their children, Brianna, Emily, and Meghan; her son, Michael Call and his wife Mindy and their son Jacob; her brother, Edward Heck of Willimantic, CT; her brother-in-law, Richard Call and his wife Cindy of Highland; her brother-in-law, George Call and his wife Mary of Hawthorne, NJ; her nieces, Marianne Flubacker of Jefferson, Suzy Faxon and her husband Chris of New Paltz, Gina Call of Midland Park, NJ, Terry Keys and her husband Richard of Ramsey, NJ, Pat Dillon and her husband Don of Ramsey, NJ, and Tracey Vukovic and her husband Sal of Midland Park, NJ; and her cousins, Jean Winters and her husband George of Lebanon, CT, Cindy Peterson and Linda of California, Fred Schlagentweith and his wife Virginia.

Her family would like to thank the East Fishkill Police Department and the East Fishkill Rescue Squad including the paramedics and ambulance unit who helped them gain time to say goodbye by their skills and speed. A special thank you goes to the Vassar Brothers Medical Center doctors and nurses, especially Bill in CCU and Colleen Fleming-Damon, who helped her in her final days on earth on her way to heaven. You are forever in our hearts.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
