Carol Marie Doering, 80, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 2019 and formerly of Roslyn Harbor, died unexpectedly on June 16, 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Queens on January 31, 1944, she was the daughter of Michael and Sarah (Cunning) McAuliffe. Carol had been employed by the Uniondale School District as a teacher for 35 years. She was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. Carol enjoyed playing Scrabble and Mahjong, reading, eating out, spending time at her condo in Myrtle Beach, and going to the beach, but more than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
On April 18, 1971 in New York City, Carol married the love of her life, Ronald Doering, who predeceased her on March 21, 2013. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Jennifer Doering, in 2018. Carol is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Ceasarine and her husband Eli; her grandchildren, Noah, Luke and Quinn; her siblings, Margaret Manfro and Michael McAuliffe; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 3-7pm and Sunday from 3-6pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Queens.
Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital.
