Carola "Carol" Ruggiero, 66, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 1971 and formerly of the Bronx, died peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence surrounded by her family.
Born in the Bronx on April 10, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Romeo Charles and Domenica (Bertolini) LaPietro. Carol was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls, and an avid bowler, bowling on the Sunday Night Mixed League at Fishkill Bowl for many years. She enjoyed arts and crafts, and cooking and was active in the Democratic Committee. She volunteered with the Town of Wappinger Little League , helping to run the candy store for many years. She also helped with the restoration of the Mesier Homestead in the Village of Wappingers Falls.
On July 29, 1967 at Immaculate Conception Church in the Bronx, Carol married Joseph P. Ruggiero who died on July 21, 2013. She is survived by her son, Joseph and his wife Stephanie of Wappingers Falls; her daughter, Carola Ruggiero-Bendetti and her husband Richard of Wappingers Falls; her grandson, Michael Ruggiero; her sister, Mary Pauline LaPietro of the Town of Poughkeepsie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10am at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls followed by interment in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
