Carole Emily Jongebloed, a Fishkill resident since 2018 and formerly of Cocoa Beach, FL and Hauppauge, Long Island, passed away at home on Monday, July 19, 2021. She was 83.
Daughter of the late Alf W. and Rose Anna (Weltsek) Olsen, Carole was born in Queens on February 25, 1938.
She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, and especially loved visiting Disney World.
On August 28, 1976, she married Kenneth William Jongebloed in Hampton Bays, Long Island. Kenneth predeceased her on February 27, 2020.
Carole is survived by her son, Donald Rein & his wife Angela of Fishkill; her daughter, Laura Vitale & her husband Gary of California; her son, Kenneth Jongebloed of California; her daughter, Nancy Soviero & her husband Clem of Long Island; her grandchildren: Kristina Jongebloed & Gregory, Matthew Jongebloed, Nicole Savalli, Michael Savalli, Cody Gilleo & his wife Erica, and Alexandria Gilleo; her great-grandchildren: Grayson and Nathan; her nieces & nephews: Jeanne Hoffman & her husband Chris, Kathy Kleinsmidt & her husband Bob, Paul Oettinger & his wife Patty, Nancy Balos & her husband Chris, Steve Oettinger & his wife Eileen, Heather Palmero & her husband Matt, Wendy Dolinger & her husband Craig, and Kelly Olsen; as well as many other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Carole was also predeceased by her brother, Alan Olsen, as well as her sister, Marilyn Oettinger.
In her final days, Carole reflected on her life and was reminded of her favorite quote: "I shall pass through this world but once. Any good that I can do or any kindness I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."
A celebration of Carole's life will be held from 12 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4 at Pace's Steakhouse, 325 Smithtown Bypass, Hauppauge, NY.
