WAPPINGERS FALLS - Carole Alice Washburn, 78, died on August 25, 2025 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. A resident of Wappingers Falls since 2007, she previously lived in Beacon and Peekskill.

Born on October 8, 1946 in White Plains, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Alice (Bodeman) Orneck. Carole retired after over 20 years of service from Blue Cross Blue Shield in Yorktown.

Carole was proud of her Swedish heritage, and enjoyed entertaining friends, especially with a piece of coffee cake! An avid fan of the NY Yankees, Carole also enjoyed cooking and baking. However, her greatest passion was her family ~ She lived for her children and grandchildren who were the most important to her.

On August 25, 1965 in Croton-on-Hudson, she married Edward Washburn who predeceased her in 2014. Carole is survived by her children, Kristin Clarke and her husband Robert of Holmes, Sandra Graynor of Wallkill, Mark Washburn and his wife Dawn of Newburgh, and Dana Caruso of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, Kendra Scott, Kaylynn Clarke, Robert M. Clarke, Shane Graynor, Jake Graynor, Madison Washburn, Cody Washburn, Joseph Washburn, Kyle Washburn, and Emma Caruso; her great-grandchildren, Sybella, Easton, and Noah; her siblings, Howard Orneck and his wife Susan, Ruthe Santek, and Susan Muraik and her husband Robert; many nieces and nephews; and many close friends who she considered family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Arthur Orneck.
