Obituary

CORTLANDT MANOR - Carolina Ogden, 80, passed away on February 26, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born on April 10, 1941 in Filipova, Yugoslavia, Carolina was the daughter of the late Sebastian and Anna Riess. She and her family were forced to flee their home during the war and were detained in a refugee camp before finally being rescued by her uncle, who had been serving in the US Army at the time. When she was 11 years old in 1952, her family immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island, and she spent the remainder of her life in Westchester County.

On March 29, 1959, Carolina married Theodore Ogden who predeceased her on May 10, 2011. She was employed as Captain of Security at Indian Point Energy Center and later she worked at Sing Sing Correction Facility. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and gardening and baked hundreds of wonderful Christmas cookies for friends and neighbors every holiday season that were highly anticipated by all.

She is survived by her children, Carolina O'Connor of South Plymouth, Kristina Ogden and her spouse Connie Wilson of Sherman, CT, Lisa Ogden and her significant other Kista Flood of Wappingers Falls, and Theodore Ogden, Jr. and his significant other Belisa Cubic of Newburgh; her grandchildren, Ashley O'Connor, Kyle O'Connor, Ryan Ogden, and Riess Ogden and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Carolina was also predeceased by her brothers, Josef Riess and Jakob Riess; and her son-in-law, Paul O'Connor.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2 – 4 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill followed by a funeral service at 4pm.
