Born in Edinburgh, Scotland on April 26, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Edith (Jamieson) Mercer. She had been employed by Andrews on the Hudson for over 20 years until her retirement in 1994.

The two were married in Yonkers in 1964, and Mr. Ban survives at home. In addition to her loving husband of 51 years, Catherine is survived by her children, Zoltan Ban, Jr. and his wife Claire of Beacon and Catherine Lucido and her husband John of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Michelle, Alec, and Kristy Ban and Amanda, Ashley, John, and Catherine "Katie" Lucido; her sister, Shiela Tattersall and her husband William; her brother, Alexander Mercer and his wife Anne; and many nieces and nephews.

Catherine was a member of the Helen MacGregor Scottish Lodge in Yonkers and enjoyed knitting. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
