Catherine Bednarz, 94, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 2002 and formerly of Manhattan, died on Monday, January 20, 2014 at the Elant at Fishkill.
Born in Harrison, NJ on November 19, 1919, she was the daughter of Walter and Antonina Dziengelewski Wisniewski. She had been employed as a telephone operator for Macy's in Herald Square.
Catherine is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Mary Bednarz of Hopewell Junction; her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Bednarz of Manhattan; grandchildren, Lynette Bednarz of Hopewell Junction, Diane Shanagher of Catskill, Mark Bednarz of GA, Lenore Bednarz of GA, Lisa Lipton Jones of NC, Leonard Bednarz of Queens and Samantha Bednarz of Manhattan; and her great-grandchildren, Liam, Joshua, Kelsey, Lauren,Sarah and Zack. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Anthony Bednarz in 1969; her son Leonard Bednarz in 2006; her grandson Sean Bednarz in 2004; and her brothers Edward and Thaddeus Wisniewski.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 3-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
