Catherine A. Delia

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Catherine A. Delia, a devoted educator and cherished family member, who passed on July 16, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on January 5, 1947, in the Bronx, NY, she was the beloved daughter of the late Stratis and Helen (Carayas) Comninel.

Catherine dedicated over 40 years of her life to the New York City Public School System, where she inspired countless generations of young minds by teaching English in elementary grades. With her Master's Degree in Education from Lehman College and Manhattan College, her passion for teaching was matched only by her love for her family and friends.

Residing in Wappingers Falls for the past 15 years, Catherine was known for her warm heart and rich spirit. She found joy in cooking for her loved ones and immersing herself in the literary works of her favorite author, Anne Perry, particularly the Christmas Story Series. An avid fan of old black-and-white television shows, including Perry Mason, she relished the comfort and nostalgia they provided. As a die-hard New York Yankees supporter, her enthusiasm for the team brought joy to those around her, and she proudly earned the affectionate title of the "QVC Order Queen."

Catherine is survived by her loving son, Constantine Delia, and his wife, Melissa, as well as her brother and sister-in-law, George and Cindy Comninel. She was preceded in death by her longtime partner, William Gentile, whose presence she cherished deeply.

A graveside service to honor Catherine's remarkable life will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, located at 4199 Webster Avenue, Bronx, NY 10470, on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 11 AM. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate her legacy and the love she shared throughout her years.
