HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Catherine M. Gorr (also known as Kay, Mom and Grandy), 88, died peacefully on October 29, 2022, surrounded by family, in Orlando, FL. A resident of the Hudson Valley for over 60 years, she was recently living in Florida, where she spent many winters at her home in West Palm Beach.
Kay was born on July 18, 1934 and grew up in Brooklyn, NY. She was the daughter of the late Hugh and Mary (O'Brien) Gribbon. She was employed at the Lighthouse for the Blind in White Plains for over 12 years until her retirement.
On June 1, 1957, Kay married Donald Gorr, who predeceased her on January 15, 1992. She was also predeceased by her son Donald, in 1964. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ponesse and her husband Thomas III of Hopewell Junction, NY, Lisa McGuire and her husband Robert of Orlando, FL, Tara Keiser of Westport, CT, and Keri Poulios and her husband James of Orlando, FL; her grandchildren, Megan and Gerardo Mata, Kristen and Matt Eckert, Thomas IV and Kristen Ponesse, Shannon and David Van Vliet, Daniel Reidy, Gregory and Rachel Keiser, Amanda and Michael Pagano, Alexa, Donny, and Christopher Poulios; her great-grandchildren, Brayden and Harper Eckert and Kaylee and Jayson Mata; her sisters, Rosemary Chrysler and Terri Molen; her sister-in-law, Barbara Foley; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Kay was a devout catholic who loved traveling and spending time with her family. She was looking forward to meeting her fifth great-grandchild in April.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 10 am at St. Kateri Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville followed by burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery in White Plains.
