In Loving Memory of Catherine Ann Lyons

December 9, 1953 - September 14, 2026

With profound sadness and hearts filled with love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished family member, Catherine Ann Lyons, who passed away on September 14, 2026, at the age of 72.

Catherine was the oldest of four children and a devoted mother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She leaves behind her three children-her oldest daughter, Racheal, her middle daughter, Jennifer, and her son, Allen-and her beloved grandchildren, Diamond Simmons, Dennis Nanton, Nyasia Gibson, Dazha Nanton, and Danysha Nanton, as well as her precious great-grandchild, Majesty Hightower. She also leaves behind extended family and many friends whose lives she touched throughout her years.

Catherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Allen Roger Gibson Sr., who passed away on January 10, 2025. Together, they shared more than 49 years of love, family, and memories, building a legacy that continues through their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

To know Catherine was to know how deeply she loved her family. She had a beautiful way of turning ordinary moments into memories that would last forever. She loved baking cakes, making art, painting, taking pictures, and creating photo albums. For more than 49 years, she captured birthdays, holidays, family gatherings, celebrations, milestones, and even the simple moments that might otherwise have been forgotten.

She didn't just take pictures-she preserved pieces of our lives. Every photograph told a story. Every album held a chapter of our family. Every page was filled with people she loved and moments she never wanted us to forget.

And now, those memories have become some of the greatest gifts she has left us.

Mom, you were so much more than our mother. You were the keeper of our memories, the person who helped hold our family together, and a part of the foundation of who we are. You spent your life making sure we would always have something to look back on. Now, when we turn the pages of those albums, we will see your love staring back at us.

There will be moments when we reach for the phone to call you, moments when we want to tell you something, moments when we wish we could hear your voice or sit beside you one more time. And in those moments, we will remind ourselves that although we cannot see you or hold you, your love is still here.

It is in your children.
It is in Diamond, Dennis, Nyasia, Dazha, and Danysha.
It is in little Majesty, the great-grandchild who carries another piece of your legacy forward.
It is in the stories we tell.
It is in the photographs you carefully saved.
It is in the art you created.
It is in the traditions you gave us.
And it is in every memory that we will continue to share.

Losing you has left a space in our hearts that no one else can fill. But we will not allow that space to be filled only with sadness. We will fill it with the memories you worked so hard to give us-with laughter, love, photographs, family gatherings, and stories about the woman you were.

Mom, you spent 72 years giving us pieces of yourself. Now we will spend the rest of our lives carrying those pieces with us.

A Faithful Farewell

Although our hearts are broken, we choose to trust in God and hold on to the promise that death is not the end. We believe that our Heavenly Father has called Catherine home to a place of eternal rest, where there is no more pain, no more sorrow, and no more tears.

We find comfort knowing that she is now resting in the hands of the Lord, surrounded by His peace and everlasting love. We can imagine her being welcomed home and reunited with her beloved husband, Allen, after the years they spent building a life and family together.

Mom, we release you into God's loving hands. May the Lord welcome you home, give you eternal peace, and keep you wrapped in His everlasting arms. Until the day God calls us home to join you, we will continue to love you, honor you, speak your name, and keep your memory alive.

Your life mattered.
Your love mattered.
Your memories matter.
And you will always matter to us.

Rest peacefully, Mom. Rest in the arms of the Lord.

Give Dad a kiss for us.

We love you more than words could ever say. Your story did not end on September 14, 2026. It continues in your children, your grandchildren, your great-grandchild, and every heart that was blessed to know you.

Until we meet again, Mom. We love you. We miss you. And we will never forget you.
