Catherine M. Massari, 58, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1994 and formerly of Peekskill, died on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. After a courageous battle and surviving a liver transplant, she unexpectedly passed away surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Queens on February 6, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Patricia Gannon. She was employed as an administrative assistant with Vanacore, DeBenedictus, DiGiovanni and Weddell in Wappingers Falls. Catherine was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and more than anything, she loved being a wife and a mother to her two daughters.
On April 29, 1984 in Peekskill, Catherine married John S. Massari who survives at home. She is also survived by her daughters, Melissa Massari of Hopewell Junction and her boyfriend Daniel Mellon, and Jennifer Massari of Hopewell Junction and her boyfriend Joseph Riccardi Jr.; her sister, Ellen Hewitt of Rhode Island; and numerous cousins.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 5-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
