Catherine Rice, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1972, passed away on August 10, 2023. She was 86.

Catherine was born in the Bronx, NY on July 4, 1937, the daughter of Frank and Bessie (Villani) Fusco.

On December 8, 1956, she married the love of her life, Edward Rice, at St. Francis of Rome Church in the Bronx, NY. Sadly, he passed away on June 19, 2021.

Catherine loved her family; she loved spending time with her daughter and son-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She attended all their sporting events and just truly enjoyed being around them. She loved the New York Yankees, playing the slot machines at different casinos, traveling, going to the beach, and reading.

Catherine is survived by her daughter Cathy and her husband Nick Oliva, her grandchildren: Jennifer Hewitt (Paul), Nicole Chappas (James) Alyssa Oliva, Michael Oliva, Vincent Provenzano; her great-grandchildren: Collin, Daniella, Cameron, Victoria, and Jackson.

In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her son Edward.

Calling hours will be Wednesday August 16, 2023, from 5pm-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc. 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 10am at St. Columba Church, Interment to follow at St. Denis Cemetery.
