HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Catherine H. Sailer, 89, an area resident since 1989 and formerly of Mount Vernon, died on January 27, 2017 at the Wingate at Dutchess.

Catherine was the Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post # 596 in Mount Vernon. She was also an avid Bingo player.

Born in New York City on April 8, 1927, she was the daughter of Joseph and Helen Polak. On August 18, 1946 at St. Philip Neri Church in the Bronx, Catherine married Warren J. "Ed" Sailer who predeceased her on July 13, 2001.

Catherine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Richard Silva of Murphy, NC; her grandsons, Richard J. Silva Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Hopewell Junction, and Joseph W. Silva and his wife Christine of East Fishkill; her great-granddaughters, Presley Raine Silva and Veronica Rose Silva; and her niece, Peggy Polak.
