Cathy Lynne Meyer, age 70, passed away on January 26, 2024 from her long term illness, Dementia at The Pines at Poughkeepsie. Formerly, she lived in Morrisville, Pennsylvania but has been a long time resident of Union Vale, New York for 38 years where she lived happily with her family. Cathy loved living in Union Vale and could be seen walking down the road waving and talking with her neighbors along the way.

Born in Wichita, Kansas on March 3, 1953, she was the daughter of Curtis Wayne and Betty Virginia (Cook) Schoonover. Cathy was a devoted stay at home mother and took pride in being so. She loved her children to a fault and enjoyed being there for each of them and their friends. Her love for her children showed when she co-hosted teen dances at Tymor Park. Cathy was involved in league bowling both at Mardi Bob, now known as Spins Bowling in Poughkeepsie and Fishkill Bowl as well as being a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society. In her home, she would be seen in the kitchen baking cakes and pies as well as doing crossword puzzles. Cathy spent endless hours in her sitting room enjoying a good book. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting projects such as sewing, needling, and creating Christmas ornaments.

On July 24, 1971 at McConnell Air Force Base Chapel in Wichita Kansas, Cathy married William M. Meyer Jr. who survives at home, She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Stacy (Meyer) Kowalski and her husband Rory Kowalski, and Curt Meyer and his wife Tammy (Aluisio) Meyer and their grandchild Ryann as well as several loved nieces and nephews. Cathy was predeceased by her siblings Richard, Michael, Debi, and Sandra Schoonover along with her sister in-law Margo and husband Russell Seversen.

Calling hours will be held on Friday February 2, 2024 from 4pm-7pm at McHoul Funeral Home, inc., 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction. There will be a service held on Saturday February 3, 2024 at 10am at McHoul Funeral Home followed by the burial at Clove Cemetery.
