Charles T. Card, 90, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on November 20, 2016 peacefully at his home.
Born in Rifton, New York on December 10, 1925, he was the son of Edward R. and Mildred Terhune Card. A highly decorated veteran, Charles proudly served our country as a Tail Gunner on the B29s in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Rider College in New Jersey. Charles owned Card Travel Agency, Inc. in Poughkeepsie, Beacon, Wappingers Falls and Arlington for 54 years. As a local business man, Charles was a member of numerous business organizations and has the distinction of being one of the first American Express agents in the United States. He travelled extensively throughout the world, but also enjoyed relaxing at their weekend home on Lake Keuka, NY. He was an avid snow skier, which he loved sharing with his family and friends.
Charles met his wife of 68 years, Jocelyn Pollard Card, while they were in high school. On August 22, 1948 in Hyde Park, Charles married Jocelyn, who survives at home. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Leslie and Charles Morgan of Rhinebeck, Robin and Kevin Karn of Poughkeepsie, David and Suzanne Card of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and Stacey and William Owen of Pleasant Valley; his grandchildren, Jeremy Perrotta, Justin Karn, Lindsay Karn, Austin Card, Corey Owen, Trevor Owen and Rachel Owen; his sister, Mildred B. Hoff of Poughkeepsie; and many nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by his oldest grandchild, David W. Perrotta, Jr., affectionately known as Davy; and his siblings, Bennett, Edward, John and Barbara.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 11am at the funeral home followed by interment in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery with military honors.
