Charles Geraci, 79, a resident of Poughquag for 12 years and formerly of Yonkers, died on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Born in New York City on December 30, 1931, he was the son of Angelo and Isabella Cacciatore Geraci. He served as a Private First Class in the US Army and owned C.G. Trucking in the Bronx and Yonkers from 1957-1972. He then worked as an HVAC Mechanic for SUNY Purchase for 20 years until his retirement in 1994. Charles was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. He loved golfing and enjoyed horseracing, boxing and playing the guitar. He was also an avid fan of the New York Yankees.
On October 26, 1957 at Christ the King Church in the Bronx, Charles married Jeanette Cicia. In addition to his wife Jeanie, he is survived by his children, Lucille Geraci-Miranda and husband Joseph of Peekskill, Charles A. Geraci and wife Joanne of Port Chester and Mitchell A. Geraci and wife Victoria of Oviedo, FL; his grandchildren, Matthew Geraci and Rhianna Egan, Charles Anthony Geraci, Danielle Marie Geraci, Jordan Nicole Geraci and Alexander Geraci; his great-granddaughter, Brianna Marie Geraci; his sisters, Ella Fucci of Lakeland, FL and Julia Williams of The Villages, FL; his brother, Louis Geraci of Bethpage; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Anthony, Eugene, Alphonse and Fred Geraci; and his sisters, Josephine Agnello, Lilly Alongi and Rose Rella.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
