Obituary

Charles Green, 74, of Poughquag, NY passed away on December 20, 2015 at his home surrounded by his children and friends.

Born in Mt. Kisco, NY on November 11, 1941, he was the son of Muriel Dearborn and John Green. He had four siblings: Lydia Newman-Haye, Muriel "Jackie" Delmerico, John Green (predeceased) and Elizabeth Wisnieski (predeceased).

Charles proudly served on active duty in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Okinawa during the police action in Vietnam.

He was a devoted father to 5, grandfather to 14, but Pop to many. He was a loyal friend and a kind hearted man who always made space in his home for anyone in need.

Charles was the owner of Poughquag Auto Wreckers, later named Green's Auto Repair. He was a successful, yet humble businessman who frequently referred to himself as just "a poor junk man." He loved his profession and through that built a legacy for his sons to carry on.

In his youth, he enjoyed participating in the demolition derby. He was a talented roller skater, an avid Budweiser drinker and one of the few people that would listen to Barbara Streisand and Johnny Cash during the same car ride. Charles was a truly unique person whose humor and love of life will be missed by everyone who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, Lagrangeville on Tuesday, December 29 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you check your blood pressure and educate yourself on the signs of stroke.
