Fishkill- Charles P. Hodgart, a resident of Dutchess County, NY, since 1974, passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2025, in North Carolina.

Charlie was born on July 14, 1945, in Yonkers, NY, the son of the late John and Mary (Paul) Hodgart, Jr.

From 1962 to 1968, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

On May 18, 1968, he married the love of his life, Jean (Tibbs), at the First Westminster Presbyterian Church in Yonkers, NY. Jean predeceased Charlie on February 3, 2020.

For 30 years, Charlie worked for Metro North Railroad in Croton-on-Hudson, NY, as the Director of Training, retiring in 2009.

Charlie was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 45 years and was also the Master Historian for his lodge. He was immensely proud of his Scottish heritage and dedicated his life to helping and taking care of others. He will be truly missed.

Charlie is survived by his daughters, Sharon Smith and her husband Douglas of Cary, NC, Kimberly Spielberg and her husband David of Cortlandt Manor, NY; his grandchildren, Brittany Barker, Kevin Barker, Monica Mitarotando, Alexander Smith, Gavin Spielberg and Shane Spielberg; his great-grandchildren, Kora and John; his beloved dog Comfort and many dear friends and extended family.

In addition to his wife Jean, and his parents, Charlie is predeceased by his brother John Hodgart III.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524 from 4 pm - 8 pm. A Funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 10 am. Interment to follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
