FISHKILL – Charles John Just, 80, a resident of Fishkill since 1978, left this earth on November 15, 2019 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in New York City on February 20, 1939, he was the son of the late Charles and Ida Just. He was raised in Patterson, NJ.
Charlie retired from ShopRite, where he had worked at several locations in the Hudson Valley. After retirement he then enjoyed a second career starting in 2001 as a toll collector for the New York State Bridge Authority. Charlie enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening, and playing poker. He also enjoyed taking trips to the area casinos. He looked forward to sharing items from his garden with his friends and customers while donating the rest to the local food pantry.
Charlie is survived by his stepdaughter, Dora Navarro and her partner, Tony Lukasik; his grandchildren, Marie Elena (Kris), Christina, Michael, and Anthony (Jeannine); his 6 great-grandchildren; his sister, Charlotte Just of Wayne, NJ; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his life partner, Dorothy Macewicz; and his great-granddaughter, Celia.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 10 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Inurnment will be on Wednesday at 11 am at the community mausoleum of Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
