It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Macdonald, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who passed away on March 21, 2025, at the age of 82. Born to Rowland and Gertrude (Olsen) Macdonald, Charles lived a life full of dedication, love, and service to others.

Charles was a loving father to Brian (Yvette) Macdonald and Jennifer (David) Sumoski. He was preceded in death by his son, Jared Macdonald. Charles was also a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Julianna, Alexander, Jasmine, David, and Rachel, who brought him great joy.

Charles is also survived by his sister Margaret (Al) Micka and uncle to Matthew and Dominic Micka.

Throughout his career, Charles worked for General Electric for over 40 years as an Engineering Supervisor, focusing on large Nuclear Turbine Engines. He was deeply committed to his work, earning respect and admiration throughout his career.

Charles had two lifelong passions: old cars and trains. In his retirement, he spent countless hours volunteering at the Hopewell Junction Train Depot, restoring the historical station, rebuilding structures, and creating detailed train dioramas for the museum. His love for vintage automobiles, a passion he shared with his longtime girlfriend Alice McDermott, led him to restore two 1936 Buicks- a sedan and a coupe- both of which earned him numerous awards at car shows over the past 42 years.

Charles legacy of hard work, generosity, and love will be cherished by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 29, 2025 from 2-4pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524

He will be dearly missed.
