Obituary

Charles F. Petersen, 74, a resident of LaGrangeville since 2002 and formerly of Yorktown Heights, died on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Lincoln, Iliinois on July 23, 1939, he was the son of Charles Leroy and Anna Lokau Petersen. He was a 1957 graduate of Sleepy Hollow High School and received his Associates Degree from Westchester Community College. He served our country in the US Army. He was a stock trader for 25 years with USF&G, and then worked for the Town of Yorktown.

Charles enjoyed spending time with his family, going to his grandchildren's concerts and sporting events, working in his yard and spending time with his dog Brook.

On September 26, 1987 in Yorktown, Charles married Veronica Scogna who survives at home. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Debra and Gary Kuebler of Niskayuna, Charles and Diana Petersen of Pleasantville, Sandra and Michael Bulgia of Poughkeepsie; his stepchildren and their spouses, Carrie and Bobby Blackburn of San Antonio, TX, Christine and Paul Breitenbach of LaGrangeville, Brian and Treva VanHorn of Portland, OR; his brother, William Petersen of Irvington; and his grandchildren, Kate, Kevin, Carly, Michael, Nathan, Ryan, Melissa, Noah, Kyle and Alex. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his first wife, Carla Walthausen who died on August 12, 1986.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be on Thursday at 10am at the funeral home.
