Obituary

BEACON – Charles W. Phillips, 79, a resident of Dutchess County since 1969, formerly of Yorktown Heights, died at the Elant at Fishkill on Tuesday, August 9, 2011.

Born in White Plains on April 30, 1932, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Mary Hickock Phillips.

Charles was an Electrician for IBEW Local 501 in White Plains until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Vineyard Community Church and a former member of the Elks Club. An avid reader, he also loved the challenge of the New York Times Crossword puzzles. He enjoyed vacationing in Ocean City, MD.

He served in the United States Navy for 4 years following the Korean War.

On October 12, 1953, Charles married Marilyn Conklin in Key West, Fl. Mrs. Phillips pre-deceased him on May 24, 2006.

He is survived by his children, Douglas Phillips of Pleasant Valley, Diane Phillips of Wappingers Falls, William Phillips of Wappingers Falls, and Nancy Cotter of Beacon; his grandchildren, Justin Phillips, Melissa D'Aguila, Ryan Phillips, Samantha Daniel, Dana Tomlins, Jennifer Tomlins, and Ashlee Phillips; and his great-grandchildren, Izaiah, Sophia, Logan, Shane Jr., Ethan, Damarius, and Jayvon. Charles was also pre-deceased by his son-in-law, Gregory E. Cotter.

Calling hours will be held from 5 pm – 8 pm on Thursday at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 am at the funeral home followed by burial at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla with Military Honors.
