Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cheryl Michelle Gulliver on March 16, 2025. She was 52 years old and taken from us far too soon.

Cheryl grew up in Yonkers, New York, and graduated from Roosevelt High School, where she stood out as a gifted athlete. She excelled in numerous sports, particularly softball and swimming, and earned her certification as a lifeguard-an early sign of her lifelong commitment to helping others.

Cheryl began her career in construction in New York City-breaking barriers with her determination and grit. But it was her desire to care for others that ultimately led her to pursue a career in healthcare. She earned an associate's degree in medical assisting from Keiser University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and worked in various medical practices in Florida before returning to the New York area in 2010. There, she continued her work as a Registered Medical Assistant, providing care and comfort to countless patients over the years.

Cheryl embraced life fully-often seen cruising in her bright orange Jeep, music blasting, windows down, and a wide smile on her face. She was known for her warm heart, her quick wit, and her ability to light up any room with her energy and humor. To those who knew her, she was more than a daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, coworker, or friend-she was a bright light and a loyal soul.

Cheryl leaves behind a family and community who loved her deeply. She is survived by her mother, Melanie King-Gulliver; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Karen Gulliver; and her nieces, Simone and Martine Gulliver. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles Olivia King, Inez and Dave Perrineau, Lorraine King and Anthony Ibarrondo, and Deborah Stoby; her cousins Morgan Ibarrondo and Jonathan Huling, Clifford Ibarrondo and Vivienne Ryan, and Tarik Stoby-as well as a host of extended family members, friends, and colleagues who will carry her memory forward with love.

Cheryl's warmth, strength, and laughter will remain in our hearts always. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
