Christi Chenarides, 89, a local area resident for 25 years, formerly of White Plains & Kingston, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, November 12, 2011.

In 1988, Christi retired as a Real Estate Contracts Administrator for IBM, having worked at their Kingston, Poughkeepsie and White Plains locatons spannig a career of over 35 years. Christi was a member of the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church in Poughkeepsie as well as Ahepa, a Greek civic organization that helped the needy.

Born in the Bronx on January 29, 1922, Christi was the son of the late John and Despina Chenarides. Christi served his country proudly during World War II and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he was a C-47 Crew Chief fying supplies from India to China during The Hump operation. On October 19, 1947, Christi married Mary Tsontarides at The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in New York City. Mrs. Chenarides survives Christi at home.

In addition to his wife, Christi is also survived by his two sons, Dean Chenarides and his wife Vicki of Fishkill and John Chenarides and his wife Debra of Pittsburgh, PA; his four grandchildren, Lauren, Dean, Kalin and Kristi; his siblings and their spouses, George and Linda Chenarides, Harry and Arline Chenarides, Nick and Beverly Chenarides, and Martha and Gus Spyridon; as well as his sister-in-law and her husband Helen and Gregory Papafloratos; and also many loving nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, 140 South Grand Avenue, Poughkeepsie, New York with Reverend Gregory S. Patsis officiating. Interment will follow at the Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
