Obituary

HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Christopher E. Rao, an area resident and formerly of Mahopac, died on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with a debilitating neurological condition. He was 42 years old.

Born in Mount Kisco, NY on June 6, 1971, he was the son of Karen (Scalia) Rao and the late Eugene A. Rao. On April 25, 1998 in Shrub Oak, he married Lisa (Mosunic) Rao who survives at home.

Chris graduated from Pace Law School in 1996. He was a partner with the law firm of Hoffman, Wachtell & Rao in White Plains and was a member of the Putnam County Bar Association.

He enjoyed food, music, and was an avid sports fan. Chris accomplished much in his 42 years, he enjoyed all that life has to offer and loved sharing it with his wife and children.

In addition to his wife and mother, Chris is survived by his 12 year old triplets, Amanda, Tyler, and Danielle; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Catherine and John Mosunic of Yorktown Heights; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Andrea and Michael Ryan of Yorktown Heights; his nieces, Alexa and Emma Ryan; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.

In lieu of flowers, an education fund has been established for Christopher's children. Donations may be sent to The Christopher E. Rao Memorial Fund, c/o Joseph J. Tock, 963 Route 6, Mahopac, NY 10541.
