WAPPINGERS FALLS – Clare H. Silver, 74, an area resident since 1991, passed away on September 17, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She previously lived in Valley Stream.

Born on February 5, 1949 in Queens, Clare was the daughter of the late Thomas and Clara (Smolski) Flanagan. Clare was employed as a hall monitor at Van Wyck Junior High School for over ten years, and then she worked at Big Lots in Wappingers Falls for ten years until her retirement.

Clare loved gardening and drinking wine. She also enjoyed watching crime TV shows especially Law and Order and Columbo.

Clare is survived by her son, David Silver and his fiancée Emily Kerr; her daughter, Jessica Silver; her grandchildren, Madison and Bailey; her brothers, Patrick Flanagan and his wife Ilda and Thomas Flanagan; and her nephew, Patrick Flanagan, Jr.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery.
