Obituary

Clarence V. Russell, Sr., 88, a resident of Stormville since 1964 and formerly of Mount Vernon, died on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Mount Vernon on September 15, 1923, he was the son of William P. and Helen Sabo Russell. Clarence proudly served our country in the US Navy during World War II. He was employed as a Police Officer with the City of Mount Vernon Police Department for 23 years until his retirement in 1971. He was a parishioner of St. Denis Church, Hopewell Junction, was a former treasurer for the PBA in Mount Vernon and enjoyed fishing.

On July 21, 1946, Clarence married Phyllis Billhymer who predeceased him on September 16, 1999. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Clarence and Claudia Russell of Willsboro, Brian Russell of Stormville, Mark Russell of Stormville, Timothy and Donna Russell of Stormville and Debra and Robert Bertram of Clintondale; his sister, Dorothy Archer of VA; his brother, Kenneth Russell of Albany; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday at 11am at St. Denis Cemetery, 604 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.
