PLEASANT VALLEY - Claudia Elisabeth Oesterreich, 79, an area resident for 23 years and formerly of Westchester County and Bayside, Queens, died on January 25, 2017 at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital.

Born in Manhattan on May 20, 1937, she was the daughter of Karl and Ingeborg Schubert Nie. Claudia was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies Christ Care Group. She was an active volunteer with Love, INC. and at the Lutheran Care Center. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling.

On June 14, 1958, Claudia married Robert Arthur Oesterreich who predeceased her on September 7, 2012. She is survived by her daughter Melanie Potter and her husband Hilon of Hyde Park; her son, John Oesterreich of College Point; her grandchildren, Erin, Christopher and Kevin Potter, and Keith Oesterreich; and her sister, Karleen Teply. She was predeceased by her son, Paul Robert Oesterreich in 1989.

A visitation in the chapel will be held on Thursday, February 2, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 55 Wilbur Blvd., Poughkeepsie.
