Clifford Ambrose, 93, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1992 and formerly of Morristown, NJ, died on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx.
Born in Atlanta, GA on October 14, 1916, he was the son of James and Elizabeth Warbington Ambrose. He proudly served our country in the US Navy as a Yeoman Third Class during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Clifford was employed as a Human Services Technician for Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital in Morristown for more than 35 years. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, cooking, writing and playing cards.
On June 29, 1939 in New York City, Clifford married Ida V. Ambrose of Harlem, NY. Although they were separated, they always remained friends. He is also survived by his daughters, Clifolyn Ambrose Davis, Bari Worrell and Aleacia Guy, his son, Victor Ambrose; his grandchildren, Damon and Dawn Worrell, Lawrence C. Guy and Tyson Ambrose; his great-grandchildren, Pia, Dominique, Gavin, Justice, Cameron, Tyler, Christopher and Shawn; his great, great-grandchildren, Tahj and Yasir; his sister, Lannie Robinson; his nephew, Cecil Scandrett and his loving wife, Dean Scandrett; his son-in-law, Leon Davis; his adopted grandson, Gavin Harley; and a host of nieces and nephews in Georgia, Michigan and Florida. He was predeceased by his devoted and loving companion of 50 years, Grace Lee Anderson Brooks, on September 25, 2010.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held at 12 p.m. followed by burial in Rose Hill Memorial Park in Putnam Valley with military honors.
Memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
