Clifford Joseph Taffner, 61, died at home surrounded by his family following a four year battle with Multiple Myeloma.
He was a ten year resident of the Town of East Fishkill, formerly of Putnam Valley and Yorktown Heights. For the last ten years, Clifford worked as a financial analyst for Citibank in Cortlandt Manor. He had previously worked for First Union Bank, Xerox and Union Carbide Corporation, all in Westchester County. For many years, he volunteered as a coach for his children's sports teams and was instrumental in organizing the Westchester Putnam Baseball Association.
Born in Brooklyn on August 11, 1948, he was son of the late Clifford J. and Regina Dooley Taffner. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1974.
On June 17, 1972, he married Linda Guardino at St. John's Church in the Bronx. Mrs. Taffner survives at home.
Clifford is also survived by his five children, Matthew Taffner & his wife Andrea of Cortlandt Manor, Beth Balc of LaGrange, Janet Laurenzano & her husband Anthony of LaGrange, Ronald Taffner of Hopewell Junction, and Christopher Taffner of Hopewell Junction; his seven grandchildren, Ryan & Emma Taffner, Tristan & Lucas Balc, and Briana, Anthony, & Ashley Laurenzano; his mother and father in-law, Angela & Anthony Guardino of Yorktown Heights; his sister and brother in-law Lynette & Thomas Nardi of New City; also one brother, three sisters, and many nieces and nepews.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851, www.themmrf.org.
