Obituary

Clorinda Meneses, M.D., 87, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

Daughter of the late Octaviano and Enriqueta (Torres) Flores, she was born in Lima, Peru on January 28, 1928. Clorinda went to medical school and became an O.B.G.Y.N. She dedicated many years of service at La Maternidad de Lima.

In 1957, she married Roberto Meneses. In the late 1970s, they emigrated to the United States and settled in Queens Village. They lived in various locations throughout the country including Long Island and California. Years later, they returned to Peru.

Clorinda was predeceased by her husband on November 23, 2009. Afterward, she moved in with her daughter and her family in Poughkeepsie.

Clorinda was the life of the party. She loved dancing, and was always the first person invited. Her daughters were always told, "Bring your mom." Clorinda treated everybody with respect, and made everyone feel special. An avid reader, she especially liked science updates and doing crossword puzzles. Family was very important to her. She always kept in touch with loved ones by writing letters and making phone calls to those near and far. Clorinda especially loved spending time with her family, catering to them and spoiling them with her delicious cooking. More than anything, Clorinda will be remembered for her personality. Adored by all, she was contagiously happy and cherished being with family & friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Liliana Aguis & her husband Thomas of Poughkeepsie and Maria (Pilar) Scott of Bay Point, CA; her grandchildren, Suzette Scott-Estrada and her husband Robert, Joseph, T.J., Jackie and Larry Aguis; her great-grandchildren, Eric, Gabriel, and Vanessa; her sisters, Quetita Varela & her husband Jorge, Elizabeth Flores, and brother in law, Dr. Enrique Vidarte, who live in Peru. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives & friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her sister, Susana Vidarte.
