Concetta Liccione, 89, a LaGrangeville resident, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie on Thursday, March 25, 2010.
Born in Melfi, Italy on January 28, 1921, she was daughter of the late Donato and Lucia Faina Belluscio. At the age of 26, Concetta emigrated from Italy to the United States. She first lived in Rochester for about 20 years, then Port St. Lucie, FL for 32 years, and moved to LaGrangeville in 2000.
She met her husband, WWII Veteran and Purple Heart recipient James Anthony Liccione, Sr., in Italy while he was on leave from the U.S. Army. They were married for 54 years, and he predeceased her on February 6, 2000.
Concetta enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking. While she lived in Italy, she sang in a church choir, and continued to sing for many years, entertaining family and friends. She was a member of Blessed Kateri Tekawitha Church in LaGrangeville.
Survivors include her son, Alexander Liccione of LaGrangeville; son, Anthony Liccione & his wife Patricia of Hamlin, NY; son, James Liccione, Jr. of Ft. Pierce, FL; son John Liccione of Alexandria, VA; daughter, Constance Liccione of LaGrangeville; son, Michael Liccione & his wife Ann of Hilton, NY; son, Joseph Liccione of Staatsburg; son, Vincent Liccione of LaGrangeville, grandchildren, Christina, Anthony, and Alexandra Liccione, Jason Chrissy & his fiancé April, and Joseph, Danielle, Louis, & Aaron Liccione; brothers, Gino Belluscio of Torino, Italy and Peppino Belluscio of Melfi, Italy; also many nieces, nephews, and many other loving family members and friends. In addition to her husband, Concetta was also predeceased by her son, Louis Liccione in 1972, and many brothers and sisters.
Calling hours are private. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11a.m. on Monday, March 29th, at Blessed Kateri Tekawitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville, followed by interment in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
