Corey Douglas Hamlin, 63, died on December 7th, 2021 peacefully at home being cared for by family and hospice. He lived this past year with dignity, love, and hope. Nothing was left unsaid or unheard. Corey is at peace.
Corey grew up in the Wappingers area and had a great childhood. He knew every backwoods path, stream, creek, and motorbike trail around. He kept us in stitches with all his crazy growing up stories. He worked most of adult life at IBM in Poughkeepsie. He made many long-term true friends there. We enjoyed his wild IBM stories, too!
Corey had a true love for all animals both pets and every critter running around the yard. He has rescued and rehabilitated a duck, several baby birds, 12 flying squirrels and a gray squirrel he called Rockey. All are living free now. Corey wouldn't even kill a spider in the house. His dogs Mia and Freddie miss him already.
Corey was the best most amazing husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was a kind generous man always willing to lend a hand. Corey's absolute favorite thing to do was to go camping at the beach in our RV. He loved warm weather, sun on his face, the sound of the waves and sand between his toes. We could spend hours under water snorkeling seeing the most beautiful fish and shells. He loved swimming, riding waves on a boogie board, getting a suntan and watching nature all around him. I hope he is on a beach somewhere with a Corona in his hand collecting beach glass and shells for me.
Corey is survived by his wife, Cathy, his son Corey Jr., his mother, Larraine Hamlin of Poughkeepsie, his sister Bonnie Tenaglia and her husband Alfred of Poughkeepsie; and several nieces and nephews.
