Corrine A. Poons, 85, of Fishkill, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Corrine was born November 8, 1932 in the Bronx to the late Charles and Albina (Ciccarone) Fury. On January 24, 1959, Corrine married William J. Poons who predeceased her.
Corrine retired in 2017 from Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Peekskill, after 42 years of service in the Patient Accounts Department.
Corrine’s passions included Wildwood, NJ vacations with family, Frank Sinatra, spending fun times with her best friends, Liz and Lorraine and making the best Christmas Antipasto. She was always the life of the party and a wonderful storyteller.
Survivors include her loving children, Carol Burke (Russell Palmer) of Hopewell Junction, William Poons (Kimberly) of Beacon, Patricia Poons of Fishkill, Eileen Tarallo of Wappingers Falls and Suzanne Poons of Peekskill; her cherished grandchildren, Michael Burke (Amy), Steven Burke, Sarah Poons, Danielle Tarallo, Jason Tarallo; her great grandson, Michael Burke, Jr.; her beloved brother, Robert Fury (Cookie); and many cherished nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Corrine was also predeceased by her brother, Richard.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill followed by interment at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley.
